本會成立於民國85年（西元1996年），原名「中華民國社區營造學會」，已於民國110年（西元2021年）8月21日第12屆第2次會員大會決議通過更名為「台灣社區營造學會」，函報內政部後於同年10月核准。故民國109年（西元2020年）財務報告仍為原名。
